Dorothy Jean Murrah (1931 - Present)
Dorothy Jean Murrah was born in 1931 on the homestead farm west of Muleshoe in Bailey County, Texas. She attended a community church in Progress near their home and the Muleshoe public schools. After graduation from high school in 1949, Dorothy moved to Plainview, Texas to attend Lippert's Business School.

Jesse Wayne Stark was born on June 23, 1925 in Plainview, Hale County, Texas. Wayne attended Plainview public schools and quit high school at the age of 17 to join the Navy during WWII and gained the rank of Coxswain "Cox" in command of troop landing craft. Wayne was onboard one of the guard ships in Tokyo Bay during the signing ceremony of Japan's surrender in 1945 on the USS Missouri. After the war, Wayne returned to Shamrock, Texas where his sister lived and completed high school there in 1948. After graduation, he went back to Plainview and enrolled at Lippert's Business School where he met Dorothy.

Dorothy and Wayne were married at her mother's home west of Muleshoe on February 2, 1951 and lived in several Texas and New Mexico towns relocating with Wayne's company. From 1955 to 1960 they lived in Lubbock and then permanently settled in Levelland, Hockley County, Texas when Wayne was transferred there. Their only child, Otis, attended schools in Lubbock and Levelland graduating from high school in 1970.

After 34 years of employment with Southwestern Public Service, Wayne took a medical retirement and passed away six months later on September 13, 1984. He is buried in City of Levelland Cemetery.

Dorothy continues to work at the Cactus Drive Church of Christ where she has been the past 40+ years. Otis is Levelland's Fire Chief and resides in Levelland with his family.
