Gordon Francis Murrah (1918 - 1993)
Ada Lee Hogan (1920 - 2011)
Gordon was born on January 1, 1918, in Beckham County, Oklahoma near Erick during an 8-month period when his father, Jesse, was helping twin brother Jim on his farm. While Gordon was still an infant the family moved to Iowa Park (Wichita County) Texas where Jesse worked in the oil fields. At age seven, the family relocated to the farm in Baily County, Texas. Gordon attended his remaining school years in Muleshoe.

Ada Hogan, the second of seven children of Roy and Velma Wright Hogan, was born in 1920, in the Martin Hollow area near Celina (Clay County) Tennessee. Two years later the family moved to Mangum (Greer County) Oklahoma where three additional children were born. In 1930, the Hogans relocated to a farm near Progress (Bailey County) Texas and two more children were added to the family. Ada attended school in the Progress District before entering high school at Muleshoe. Although they didn't live far apart, Gordon and Ada first met during their high school years.

They were married November 4, 1939, in Muleshoe and set up housekeeping in a tiny house on a farm near Progress. They spent a lifetime of farming and greatly expanded their original house and farm land as their family of two daughters and two sons grew and times became more prosperous for farmers. Peanuts eventually became the number one crop for the Gordon Murrahs.

Gordon passed away December 3, 1993 in Muleshoe. Ada remained on the farm until 2006 then relocated to Canyon, Texas. She passed away June 9, 2011 at Farwell, Texas and is buried beside her husband at Muleshoe Memorial Park.
